Virginia is bringing community services to troubled youth in the Commonwealth. It’s signed contracts with two companies to coordinate services for youths in the juvenile justice system in their communities. The initiative is designed to keep kids closer to home and provide service where and when they need it. The programs get underway in the new year. They’re being paid for by the savings from the closing of the Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center in Powhatan County next June.
