Dealing With Asbestos Concerns At CHS

Discussions of lingering asbestos at Covington High School was addressed by the Covington City School Board this week. A board member urged Superintendent Melinda Snead-Johnson to give an update on the situation. The superintendent said an environmental consultant completed a walk through of the school along with the principal and covered the known sites with asbestos in the school. The sites recommended to first be addressed include the two main stairwells in the building. Dealing with one stairwell would cost roughly $20,000.
