Watch For Black Ice Tuesday Morning

The National Weather Service says you should watch out for black ice Tuesday morning along with any fresh snow. The NWS issued the following statement: BY MORNING THERE WILL BE UP TO 2 INCHES OF FRESH SNOW FROM JUST WEST OF LEWISBURG. NEW SNOW AMOUNTS WILL BE LESS THAN ONE INCH FROM THE ALLEGHANY HIGHLANDS THROUGH THE ROANOKE AND NEW RIVER VALLEYS, AND IN THE FOOTHILLS OF NORTH CAROLINA. LOWS TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM THE LOWER 20S TO THE LOWER 30S TONIGHT, SO SNOW THAT MELTED MONDAY WILL REFREEZE. BE PREPARED FOR AREAS OF BLACK ICE OVERNIGHT AND DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE, ESPECIALLY ON UNTREATED ROADS AND SIDEWALKS. ALSO, WIND SPEEDS WILL INCREASE FROM THE NORTHWEST TONIGHT. WIND GUSTS OF 25 TO 40 MPH ARE LIKELY, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THIS MAY RESULT IN DOWNED TREE LIMBS AND BRANCHES THAT WERE ALREADY WEIGHED DOWN BY THE HEAVY WET SNOW.
